The Type 5 key wind can is metal with a domed lid. It is a redesigned Type 1 can so that the lid can be replaced once opened. There is a bead close to the top that is formed when the can is sealed at the factory. The key used to open the can is attached in one of three locations according to the age of the can. Earliest cans have the key hanging from the tab on the key wind strip. On later cans, the key is crimped to the top of the lid. Newest cans have the key soldered on the bottom.
