At first glance, this can doesn’t appear to be odd. Note the bead around the top like on all other Type 5 domed lid cans. OK, nothing strange there, but this isn’t a domed lid can – the lid is flat like a Type 1 can and the key is still attached to the bottom. But the strangest characteristic of this factory sealed can, is the fact that it is empty. The key wind strip is intact, the top and bottom of the can are both unaltered. The can weights 4.8 ounces compared to a like can with balls weighing in at 10.8 ounces.
Never been opened, flat lid can with a bead from a domed lid, and no balls inside! So, what do you think? A prototype can? A salesman’s sample? A mistake?
