I found 2 balls in a plastic bag…

bag was opened at one point but stapled shut.

Balls look unused and one has a brown spot (moisture) on it.

White with University  MADE IN ENGLAND on them.

I am guessing that they weren’t sold in a plastic bag originally.

No other markings – Any way to date them?

Answer:

Hard to tell. Even a photo of the balls may not help.

It was fairly common for balls from England to packaged in plastic bags as well as cans and boxes.

The balls could have been in a bag with cardboard flap stapled over the top. The cardboard would have the brand and possibly the manufacturer information imprinted on it.

Also, sometimes balls were placed into a plastic bag before being inserted, bag and all, into a can.
